August Update

Update for the August 2021 period, including latest regarding event cancellations.

Sadly, the August meeting had to be cancelled. Greg Kenicer from the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh has been booked to give his talk about Plants in Witchcraft in August 2022. There has been an increase in numbers allowed in Dalgety Bay Community Centre from 10 to 14. This is still no use for meetings of DBHS

The DBHS Annual Show will be held on Saturday 4h September 2021. Entries will be submitted electronically by exhibitors, and, due to restrictions, everything will be done digitally this year, including judging. There are six sections this year, which include, Fruit and Vegetables, Cut Flowers, Pot Plants, Industrious, Photography and Young Sections. Show schedules are available on the Annual Show page and they have been available in Dalgety Bay Library since 10th August 2021. Please support DBHS and enter the show.

The DBHS Open Allotments weekend on 24th/25th July was a great success with a good few people visiting the plots over the weekend. We were also blessed with the weather. The Allotments were open under Scotland’s Garden Scheme along with the private garden of Sybil Cobban at Inchview Gardens in Dalgety Bay and helped raise money for Marie Curie Cancer.

The “Jobs for” August part of the DBHS report is on the tips page to see what jobs you should be doing at this time of year.
