Dalgety Bay Horticultural Society – Report for Web Site – July 2020

The DBHS Annual Coach Trip by Car to the Japanese Garden at Cowden near Dollar on Saturday 3rd July 2020 was cancelled. The garden actually opened on 18th June 2020, with restrictions, but we will not be going as a group this year. We will leave it till July in 2021.

The Allotments Open Day, to be held over the weekend of 18th and 19th July 2020 along with Sybil Cobban’s garden, a private garden in Dalgety Bay, was cancelled earlier this year. These were to be opened under the auspices of Scotland’s Garden Scheme and we were looking forward to a second year of opening the allotments to the public under this scheme. Next year I am sure we will be back on track

Greg Kenicer was ready to give us a presentation on 7th August 2020 but we will have him in August 2021 instead. You may have seen Greg do a bit of presenting on Landward about the properties of various plants.

The “Jobs for” part of the DBHS report is now on the DBHS website at www.dbhs.org.uk. Click on the “Jobs for” button to see what jobs you should be doing at this time of year.

Did you know that DBHS normally runs meetings every month of the year, usually with a guest speaker, followed by light refreshments and a raffle?

Dalgety Bay Horticultural Society (DBHS) holds meetings on the first Friday of each month at 7:30pm in Dalgety Bay Community Centre. You are welcome to come along to our meetings and, who knows, you may be convinced to join us. Alternatively go to our website at www.dbhs.org.uk, click on downloads, then membership form, fill it in then send it back. Membership is good value at £5.

If you think you may be interested in joining, please phone, Michael Gourlay on 01383 823425. He will give you all the information you require.
